Super Nanny Follow up…
While on the “Super Nanny Rules” page, I saw this article about the Chapman Family. Thought I’d share. I did track done Sara’s “Full Time Job”…She’s a photographer. While a busy carrer choice…hardly a 9-5 full time job.
Kaukauna Family Threatened After “Supernanny” Episode
A friend of a Kaukauna family says the family’s been getting death threats since being featured on an episode of “Supernanny.” The show aired Wednesday night in a second episode immediately following the season premiere.
The episode featured Sara and Glenn Chapman of Kaukauna. Nanny Jo Frost came to the Fox Cities after being contacted by two sisters, Brittany and Moriah, then 17 and 14, who were portrayed as having to raise three younger brothers while attending school online and doing chores. Both parents work full-time.
Thursday the online message board of “Supernanny” had a number of postings highly critical of the Chapmans, and right now the family is worried about their safety.
The messages on the Internet are just a sample of what people are saying about the Chapmans after the episode aired.
BarbaraM135 wrote, “My heart aches for those girls. Slavery was abolished in 1863.”
Another person wrote, “The Chapman story was sad, shocking and left me feeling SICK to my stomach!”
One more person added, “I think it’s terrible to see this going on. My jaw hit the floor when I was watching the program last night. I live in Kaukauna. Oh my goodness watching kids raise kids.”
Action 2 News spoke with the Chapmans on Thursday. They wanted to go on-camera but couldn’t because of contractual obligations to ABC. We contacted the network and right now we’re told the Chapmans signed paperwork that keeps them from doing any interviews.
However, a family friend did speak out. Lucey Kirsch told us, “They have received death threats over the phone and through their email. They have received kidnapping threats. They have had emails from people begging them to give their children to someone who actually loved them. They’ve had people drive by their house. It’s outrageous.”
Kirsch says it was the show producers who were dishonest in how the episode was presented.
“It was sensationalized and it was edited to be something that never happened. So much was left out that it made it seem like the girls were given the entire responsibility for the boys when it’s not true.”
Kirsch said, “At this point they will probably have to move.”
