Seven Year Marriage License

by

GP.jpgThis is something that Sarah and I have talked about. Rather or not there should be a time limit of some type on marriages. Well, this Bavarian politician thinks there should be.

“The basic approach is wrong … many marriages last just because people believe they are safe,” she told reporters. “My suggestion is that marriages expire after seven years.”

What do you think? Come on…speak up.

hmm, in theory I kinda like this idea. Most legal contracts have some sort of “end”. Like your cell phone - you can get out after the 2 years (or however long) is up and go on to a better one. Same theory. But geez there is so much more to consider. Like how do you “settle up”. Who gets the collection of Barry Manilow memorabilia? Who gets to keep the house? How do you decide who gets the kids? Is there any child support? There’s a lot of pros & cons to consider. And no, I’m not married so maybe my opinion is skewed.

    I GET THE BARRY!!!

  3. Sarah Says:

Like we would fight over your Barry collection.

I’m with Jessica. I like the concept. I think it’s a chance to stop and reconsider your lives. How many people do we know that just don’t work in a marriage? And it may strengthen the marriage if it forced you to sit down and talk about it.

  4. Sudie Says:

Sooo, if at the end of the marriage you DO decide to split…and you go on to have a couple of more that do the same…are you a success at marriage because you made it to the “end”?
