Not another one…

by

You know what sucks about animals…they get sick. If you know me, you also know I’m a softy when it comes to pets. I have a natural connection with animals. I have lost one cat in the last few months, and my cat, Friday, is showing his age.

A friend of mine into a basement apartment in 1994. They asshole guy who lived there before him had left this kitten in the apartment when he moved out. He was eat up with fleas and my friend was severely allergic to cats. So I took him.

I was still a bachelor, living in a one room apartment in Midtown Atlanta. I remember taking Friday home and giving him a flea bath. It was then I realized about 75% of his body was fur. He looked awful while wet, and even after blow drying him for 20 minutes, he was still in “drowned rat” mode. He was very afraid, and would duck anytime you tried to pet his head. I found out later that the tard who had him would smack him in the head and get him high. It took many years for him to lose the duck reflex…and still does it when stressed out.

Anyway, Friday became a strong member of the family. I got married, picked up another cat, then we had Jack. Friday was absolutely in love with that child. He was always wherever Jack was. He had to check out anyone who held Jack. It was extremely sweet.

Years go by and Friday has a new little boy. He still loves to sleep with Jack, but he now loves to lay on Tony whenever he can.

Friday is a special cat. He’s extremely friendly, to a fault. Everyone who meets him is amazed by his personality. He’s barely a cat. He’s more of a lap dog.

Now he has an enlarged heart. We are treating it with diet and medicine. I have no idea what this means.

I hate it.
