Nesting

by

Tradtionally, Nesting affects the mother-to-be. I came back from 3 hours of building a set for a local theatre’s production of “Nunsense” and our bed room was straightened and cleaned with a votive sconce on the wall.

“What do you want to do today?” I ask.
“Really, the only thing is getting those 2 pictures hung.”

It’s a mixture of her OCD nature, the upcoming baby, and the energy from not being in a show or able to do the physical stuff she normally does. Usually, we are pretty clean around the house. However, we’ve been a little more active about it of late.

It hasn’t only affected Sarah. I moved entire rooms around. Thursday night I HAD to rearrange the furniture in the nursery/spare bed room before we went to bed. Some of it is because I’m trying to do the physical stuff for Sarah, but it’s almost a compulsion at times.

It’s like spring cleaning on crack.

I am laughing SO hard at this post. My husband just shakes his head and tries to avoid me.

Last weekend, I weeded, watered, fertilized all of our landscaping in our yard. This weekend, among other things, I totally cleaned out my car, our bathrooms and our fridge. I’m due this Friday and I hope that kid appreciates a freshly cleaned car, dammit. I broke out the Armour All and Windex JUST FOR HER.

    Kelli gets it.

Of course, she’s due on Friday. Not, you know, in December like me. I plan to redo the floors by then. :)

I knew the arrival of both my boys was only days away when the house was the cleanest it had ever been. The woman was not a housekeeper, in any sense of the word, so walking in on a spotless house, with floors washed, clothes cleaned and furniture dusted, was a sense of relief, albeit short lived. I know this sounds bad, but I was just glad to get a break from having to do it all. My tip: keep it up, but don’t go too crazy, you’ll be glad it’s done when the baby comes. You’ll be able to relax a little and enjoy the time.

I was the one with the nesting instict. Cindi was too busy being sick. I pulled up all the carpet in the house and scrubed the floors then laid plywood down and had hardwood floors installed. i also cleaned up the garage and had a new door and roof put on it so that i could store all the crap in the soon to be nursery in it. i pulled up old floor and laid down new floor in the bathroom, installed a new vanity and painted. Then i proceeded to paint all the rooms in the house. i did all but 4 rooms and i would have finished those but Cindi made me stop because she wanted to paint too…they have yet to be painted 2 years later. This is my nesting saga.
