I love the e-mail updates…
Before I start…I have to say that I never new they went away…Sock Monkeys…
Anyway. I love the updates I get from a few sites about the development of the baby. They all give approximate weight and length, but then they differ slightly in the rest of the information they send. Here’s a few things I learned with this weeks update…a sample, if you will, for those who don’t use them.
This is from Baby Center:
If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
Here’s some info from Parenting.com:
As the uterine and abdominal walls stretch and thin, more light reaches the womb, causing her to open and close her eyes in response. It also helps her know day from night so she can cycle between activity and rest.
And here’s a tid bit from Baby.com:
If you’ve been sitting or lying down for a long time, don’t jump up too quickly. Blood can pool in your feet and legs, causing a temporary drop in your blood pressure when you get up that can make you feel dizzy.
They also offer updates for your older children. Here’s something for my 7 year old from Baby Center:
To help your child hone his writing skills, start a scrapbook in which your child can keep memories of his year. You might opt to start it right around a significant event, such as the beginning or end of school, or his birthday. Include ticket stubs from places you’ve gone (museums, zoos, plane trips, etc.) and photographs, and, of course, encourage him to write a few sentences each week about his experiences
