Eat Less, Move More

by

There’s my diet in a nutshell. I have lost 15 pounds in the last few months following this simple rule.

I had gotten into the habit of eating potions that were much larger that I really needed. If I slid through a drive through, I’d get the whopper with cheese, large sized. Who really needs that much food? Let’s put aside the fast food aspect of it, and talk about portions. I started getting a whopper Jr, no cheese, with a small fry. Less food, just a filling…once my body adjusted…and I saved money. We have also…by we, I man Sarah…started cooking at home more and carrying leftovers to work. Much healthier. Cheaper. And I control the portions. Now I’m not eating the fast food as much, but when I do, I don’t super size.

Now, I’m not doing as well with the “move more” side of this. But as a father, there is plenty to do. I did coach Jacks basketball team, so every week I would hit the court with a bunch of third graders. Jack and I also have played a few games of racquetball and swam a couple times. And Guitar Hero has got to help shed the pounds…unless it’s one of the crappy songs.

Sound simple and not glitzy…I know. But it is simple and helps a lot. I do realize that we dads are wired differently than you moms. Sorry about that. It seems that we can drink 2 less swallows of Mt. Dew and lose weight, but it’s really not that extreme. But just simply eating what the body needs and not too much more, and being more active will help you feel better and lose weight. I’m going to keep it up and see how it works out for me. Feel free to do the same and let me know.
