Jamie, a friend of ours, is going through a rough time at 35 weeks. The doctor found protein in her urine at the last checkup. She’s at home, resting. She has to keep all urine to be tested for protein levels every couple days. She’s got to be miserable and nervous. Keep her and the baby in your thoughts.
I realized I really didn’t know much about the condition, so I went in search of a good explanation. I found this at FamilyDoctor.org. (more…)
Sarah’s folks have been nervous that the Wii my sister in law found in California was a knock off. After all, it was at a kiosk…and she had to pay cash. I understand. So as concerned parents we…plugged that sucker in and…tested it.
IT ROCKS! We had a blast. We will be playing bunches of games with or without Jack. The interactive controls are amazing. And you can download old Nintendo games. Donkey Kong…Mario…yeah baby.
Are we bad parents? Would you play your child’s Christmas gift? Please let me know…not that we will stop, but it’s nice to know.
That’s all. It seems I have fallen into only being able to focus on the cell phone on my hip. I know at anytime:
Buzz: “Water Broke. Meet me at hospital. I should have thrown my bag in the car. you were right, as always…and your so damn handsome…”
So here are what some of my favorite blogs are up to:
Summer hits a good point with her latest. I always wondered, as a teacher, what could be learned at 8:00 am, when neither I nor my students were fully awake.
Kim has a review of a step-mom book. Check it out.
Danny shows his patient, loving, morning side…or not…at Dad gone Mad.
Erinn has some really good parenting tips. I like the showing affection for easy reason, but i don’t know if everyone should trust their instincts.
And Bill is 5 days overdue…or his wife is. Damn.
Hopefully, I’ll be putting up some times and weights soon…if my demon spawn will hurry up. He’s stubborn…like his mother.
I was never a big reader growing up. The first book I remember catching my attention was some book about some big headed scientist who was really a mushroom person alien and a couple kids who go to his planet. Have no idea beyond that. I also remember reading a book about animals, and one was “Kelly” the army dog…and he took a bullet for his human and died…I cried for an hour…and watched football and scratched my nuts…while spitting.
Anyway, it wasn’t until my teenage years that I began reading for enjoyment. It was mostly fantasy and some Shakespeare. But it’s something I enjoy doing as an adult.
I’ve been worried that my son would not find books until later in life as well. He has to read for class, “Accelerated Reading”. He has been reading short, non-involved, books…and not liking them. There is a whole reading level/point system, and he has to get 16 points by Christmas break. Well, these books, at 0.5 points…that he hated…weren’t making it. So I looked into the high point books. R.L. Stine, the author of the
Goosebumps series, has some on the list. They were harder and much more involved. I bought a couple of his
Mostly Ghostly series about a brother and sister misplaced soul duo.
He through a fit when he saw the first book. It was “too hard”.
He’s read 3 in the last week and picked out 2 more tonight at the book store.
Happy sigh…
So…We have been trying everything for inducing labor. Walking, spicy food, rocking, pressure points, and the horizontal mambo.
She’s avoided the Castor Oil, but we keep talking about it. I offered to find her a Castor oil enema…to a less than warm response.
So last night, I was trying to be witty and alittle randy. You can read the outcome at her site.
I’m a tard!
We went to the OB today. Sarah is at 39 weeks. She’s past ready to have the baby. Today we talk about induction, according to the doctor last week.
I started thinking about what my job was as the guy at the OB. I perused some magazines and tried to find something other than an add to read. I read parts of the articles to Sarah. They were ridiculous at times. I made obligitory eye contact with the 2 other men in the waiting room. I tried to figure out the flower arrangement in the middle of the room…to no avail.
It’s my job to get up when her name is called, only to set back down when they want her only for the weigh in an pee test. More magazine flipping, and a few more nods of the heads to fellow dads-to-be. I know I’m not alone when I see them. (more…)
Yes, Virginia, We have a Wii.
“Where ever did you fine one?” you might ask. Well, not around here or the Internet, no. My sister-in-law in California found one. She called around and found a place in Glendale that had them.
“That was easy.” I hear you thinking. Nay nay, Nadine. One kiosk had 15. The catch, they had no way to run credit cards. So she had to go get cash and get to the mall. She then had to find where the hell this one oasis of Wii…he he…was. But, she did it.
So now, the quest for the Wii is over. Christmas is saved. I had begun to come up with stories of Santa’s sudden onset of Alzheimer’s, or how Jack wasn’t as “nice” as the other kids who did get one. But, Jenni saved the day. Thanks sis.

Let me just say I love having good friends. I’ve always been that guy that floats in and out of people’s lives. It’s something that happens when you do Theatre as a profession. You have 6 to 10 weeks with a group of people, some from city’s like Chicago or New York, and then they are gone. Most of this happened before e-mail was what it is now, so correspondence was more of an effort…and I’m lazy. So I’d have folks come in to my life, become my best bud, then go back to their homes.
Well, I’m more settled now. All weekend I had text message about Tony. It made me feel good that we are part of a village. Last night, we dined on lasagna from the Elementary Chef. It was quite tasty and well welcomed. Everyone at work is on the speed dial for info on the baby. I counted 62 folks that will be getting a text message moments after the arrival. Again, if you want to be included, I still have room on the phone.
I have gotten to know some of you through this site. The president of 451 Press has set up an e-mail tree for us, so when the water breaks…the e-mails will start. This site has meant alot to me through this experience. Thanks for reading.
Hopefully, soon, I’ll have pictures of Tony to share. I tried to talk Sarah into having her picture taken with Santa, so we could have a Tony pic “before” but she would not. Oh Well. Guess you’ll have to wait.
P.S.
Still no Wii…Anyone want to give Tony a Wii for Christmas? Got one just laying around? Know of any back ally black market? Just let me know.
I love this page…

moar funny pictures

and you can make you’re own and submit them…It makes me laugh!
How your baby’s growing:
Your baby’s waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it’s likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.
This child will never come…We are at 39 weeks now…
We are hanging out, watching college football, trying to figure out what to do for dinner. The Iron Bowl is coming on later…we’d really like to watch it from a delivery room. I know Sarah is tired and sore. Her hips are killing her. I do have to admit I got a couple naps in today. But I was striking a set until 2:00 last night (Sarah was up when I got home) and I spent the morning cleaning dust and mouse poop from the theatre’s shop from 9:00 to 11:30. It was nasty…but no snake skins.
It’s weird. Jack was induced. We never got to the “waiting for the body” stage. It kinda sucks. I know induction is harder on the body than just natural, but it is very nice to just show up when told. For me, it’s a win win. Potocin sound like a winner to me. A little more pain versus convenience…
Still no luck on the Wii. I really wanted to have that pinned down before Tony made his appearance. Hopefully we wont have to “settle” for a X-Box 360. I really wanted the activity of the Wii. If anyone has an extra one…
That’s about it from the Comer/Brown house. I’ve created a text message group to get news out. If you want, leave a cell phone number and I’ll add you. Otherwise, watch the page. I think I have internet in the delivery room. I’ll try to get info out…within reason. I don’t want to be that crazy dad who is oblivious to his wife during the birth because his camcorder is low on batteries.
It’s funny to a 7 year old…and me…
I am extremely blessed. I don’t think I would have believed you if 5 years ago you had told me I would be expecting my second son with an amazing woman and an excited little brother to be waiting to meet him. I really enjoy my job. I love the community work i get to do. I’m truly happy and blessed.
Here’s week 10 of Cody’s experience. Seemed fitting to post this on thanksgiving. Remember those who are struggling just to have a place to live.
Happy Thanksgiving.

The "Sympathy Pain" blog is a father's view of what is generally viewed as "woman only" territory, pregnancy. The blog also looks into the blended family and how a new addition affects that family. "Sympathy Pain" is not a battle of the sexes sight, but rather, an open forum for moms and dads.
